Wadi Mozaa Bridge

Strategic Importance

Structural Components of the Bridge

  • The bridge consists of five main spans, each 20 meters apart.

  • Every span rests on two massive reinforced concrete piers, each measuring 4.5 meters in width and 1.5 meters in thickness.

  • The piers are connected by crown beams, supporting five primary girders above them.

  • At both ends of the bridge, retaining walls were constructed to ensure lateral stability and durability.

  • Rubber bearings were installed between the girders and deck to absorb shocks and maintain long-term structural performance.

Deck System and Prefabricated Construction

  • A total of 45 secondary girders were installed above the main girders to support the concrete deck slab.

  • All concrete components — including the secondary girders and 800 precast deck slabs — were manufactured off-site.

  • The slabs were carefully installed and interconnected, after which the final concrete layer was poured on-site to complete the deck.

Quality Assurance and Technical Standards

The project was executed by Yaram Trading & Contracting, which ensured the highest levels of quality and precision. A modern concrete batching plant was established at the project site, guaranteeing that the concrete met all technical specifications and that execution efficiency remained consistently high.

Improved national and international connectivity

Strengthened logistics and cargo handling operations

Support for humanitarian and relief missions

Increased safety and compliance with global aviation standards

The bridge serves as a vital link that connects surrounding districts, enhances trade routes, and facilitates safer, faster transportation for local communities..

Our Business Growth

The Mocha – Mawza – Al-Kadaha Road Project is a transformative infrastructure initiative designed to strengthen connectivity between Yemen’s western coastline and the Taiz Governorate. Spanning a total length of 37 kilometers and a width of 20 meters, this project is set to become a critical transportation corridor, promoting smoother movement of goods, services, and people across key economic regions.

This strategic roadway is not only vital for improving local accessibility but also for supporting broader regional trade. By linking coastal areas with inland markets, the road enhances logistical efficiency and opens new economic opportunities for communities along its path. The project aligns with national development goals aimed at boosting commerce, reducing transportation times, and fostering social and economic integration.

Yram has been deeply involved from the earliest stages of this project. Our team conducted the comprehensive feasibility and technical studies required to assess the project’s environmental, engineering, and economic dimensions. These studies provided critical insights into route selection, soil conditions, traffic projections, drainage needs, and environmental impact mitigation.

Currently, Yram is executing the construction of 13 kilometers of this major roadway. This phase involves earthworks, roadbed preparation, paving, drainage system installation, and the integration of safety and signage measures. Every aspect of the construction process is being carried out with careful attention to international quality standards, ensuring that the final roadway will deliver long-lasting performance under heavy use.

Our Commitment

Yram approaches the Mocha – Mawza – Al-Kadaha Road Project as more than just a construction assignment. It is a commitment to advancing Yemen’s infrastructure in ways that create measurable social and economic benefits. Through precision engineering, reliable project management, and sustainable practices, we aim to deliver a roadway that will serve generations to come.

As the project progresses, Yram continues to uphold its reputation for delivering complex infrastructure works on time and to the highest standards, reinforcing our position as a trusted partner in Yemen’s national development.

Our Business Growth

The Mocha – Dhubab – Bab al-Mandab Road Project represents a vital step forward in Yemen’s coastal infrastructure development, linking some of the country’s most strategically important regions. Spanning approximately 45 kilometers, this route connects the historic port city of Mocha with the gateway of Bab al-Mandab — one of the world’s most significant maritime passages. This road is far more than a local improvement; it plays a key role in integrating Yemen’s transport network with regional and international trade routes.

This corridor is essential for supporting the movement of goods and services along the Red Sea coast, strengthening economic resilience in coastal communities, and opening new opportunities for commercial, humanitarian, and logistical operations. The importance of this route extends beyond national borders, as Bab al-Mandab serves as a critical access point between the Arabian Peninsula and international shipping lines connecting Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Yram has been entrusted with the construction and rehabilitation of 22.5 kilometers of this route, contributing significantly to the broader project’s success. Our work includes multiple key components: expanding narrow road sections, reinforcing embankments to prevent erosion, improving pavement durability, redesigning curves and slopes for enhanced safety, and integrating modern drainage solutions to handle the area’s coastal climate challenges.

Technical Scope and Challenges

Building and upgrading a coastal road demands a different set of engineering solutions compared to inland projects. Exposure to salt-laden air accelerates corrosion, requiring the use of specialized materials and protective coatings. The proximity to sandy soils and tidal influences increases the risk of erosion, demanding advanced stabilization measures such as retaining walls, geotextile reinforcements, and robust drainage systems.

Yram’s technical teams have designed customized solutions for each segment of the project, carefully balancing environmental, operational, and long-term maintenance considerations. These measures are essential to ensuring the road’s performance under heavy traffic conditions, which include not only passenger vehicles but also heavy-duty trucks, commercial fleets, and humanitarian transport.

Our Broader Vision

For Yram, this project is not an isolated effort but part of a much larger vision for Yemen’s development. By investing in coastal infrastructure, we are helping to create new pathways for trade, tourism, and social connection. We see roads as enablers — unlocking opportunities that ripple outward, empowering communities, stimulating businesses, and fostering national progress.

The Mocha – Dhubab – Bab al-Mandab Road is also a symbol of resilience and forward movement. Despite the logistical, environmental, and technical challenges involved, Yram remains fully committed to delivering a roadway that not only meets technical specifications but also delivers meaningful, lasting value to the people and businesses it serves.

Project Features and Impact

This project is about more than just laying asphalt; it is about enhancing the flow of life and commerce across a region that holds historical, economic, and geopolitical importance. Key outcomes of the project include:
